1. Check that you are not presenting flu-like symptoms (fever, cough and sneezing) prior to travel, in which case you will not be allowed to board the aircraft.

2. We recommend that you are acquainted with all requirements issued by the health authorities applicable to your destination. You may obtain more information from the respective embassies and consulates. Additional documents may be required for some destinations, please consult requirements by destination in the sections below.

3. You will be required to arrive at the SSR International airport at least four hours prior to departure. With all the precautionary measures now in place, the process will be longer, although we will strive to make it seamless for you. 

4. You will be required to wear your own mask at all times at the airport and onboard, as this is mandatory for travel. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport to the time you leave the airport at destination.  Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Read more on specific sanitary measures enforced by some countries in the sections below.

5. We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.

6. To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. 

7. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, live animals (AVIH) will NOT be accepted as checked baggage for travel into Mauritius. All live animals are to be shipped as CARGO, and you must hold an appropriate import permit from the local authorities. For more information, please check our Travelling with Pets page.

Please find below our guidelines on the travel requirements in place at selected destinations. You are encouraged to consult this section regularly for any updates.

ELIGIBILITY

Up to 14th July 2021, no passenger will be allowed entry into Mauritius.

Up to 14th July 2021, any person having resided in South Africa, Brazil, Reunion or Mayotte, or with a history of travel to/from South Africa, Brazil, Reunion or Mayotte within the last 15 days, will not be allowed entry or transit in the Republic of Mauritius.

Opening of borders

From 15 July to 30 September 2021, borders will be open to Mauritian nationals as well as fully vaccinated tourists. Vaccinated visitors will be able to book a holiday package at a certified COVID-19 safe resort. 

The Mauritian authorities are working on the Full Opening of Borders as from 1st October 2021.

Different requirements will apply to vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers.

Travel Requirements

Passengers travelling to Mauritius will have to fulfil all travel exigencies before their flight.

All passengers (including children and infants) travelling to Mauritius must possess the following documents:

1. A certificate of a negative PCR test administered between 5 and 7 days prior to the date of boarding at the last point of embarkation. Only passengers whose tests are negative will be allowed to board flights to Mauritius. The original certificate must be presented at check-in, boarding and upon arrival.


For travellers from India
, only PCR tests conducted at laboratories approved by the Mauritian authorities are accepted.  The approved ‘List of Covid-19 Testing Labs’ can be obtained on the following website: https://www.icmr.gov.in/ .  Only a negative RT-PCR test report with QR Code will be accepted. 


For Indian workers travelling to Mauritius

Passengers travelling from France must check their travel requirements here.   A check of the supporting documents will be made in France before departure.  In the event of a false statement or an invalid reason, boarding will be denied.  Please note that this does not apply to passengers in transit at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

For passengers arriving from Reunion, only travellers with compelling personal, family, health or professional reasons that cannot be postponed are authorised to travel and must complete the Air Travel Certificate. 2. A valid air ticket to Mauritius.  It is important that you provide your email address and
mobile number for us to communicate with you.

3. A proof of purchase of a travel package including accommodation, on a full board basis, at a designated hotel, as follows:

From 15th July to 30th September 2021:

4. Passengers must have a medical insurance, covering repatriation/medical treatment for Covid-19 in Mauritius and additional hotel costs if they have to stay in quarantine owing to a Covid-19 positive relative.

5. Incoming passengers to Mauritius must download and fill their Public Health Covid-19 Passenger Health Self-Declaration Form and Passenger Locator Form which must be handed over to the Ministry of Health and Wellness counters upon their arrival.

Information on approved vaccines and PCR tests

a/ Passengers must be fully vaccinated with a COVID vaccine recognised by the Mauritian Authorities.  If a second dose of a vaccine is required to be fully vaccinated, this must be administered at least three weeks before arrival.  Passengers under 18 years of age are currently exempted from vaccination at this time.  However, they will need to undergo a PCR test.

b/ Any arriving passenger will have to undergo PCR tests on day of arrival at the SSR International Airport, on day 7 and on day 14 following arrival.

c/ If a PCR test reveals that a person is COVID-19 positive, he/she shall be transferred to a public medical institution for treatment.

At the airport of departure

  • With all the health safety and precautionary measures in place, the check-in and boarding processes are expected to take longer. Passengers are therefore advised to arrive at the airport at least three hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time.
  • It is mandatory for all passengers above 11 years old to wear only surgical masks. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your flight, from the time you reach the airport of departure to the time you leave SSR international airport. Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.
  • Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport.


Baggage

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket.

  • Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg.
  • Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 kg will be accepted at check in.
  • Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your membership card.

    Passengers are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board.

  • Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats or anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in the lavatory waste bins only, or be kept in your bag.
  • To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your cabin baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items.

COVID-19 Protocol in Mauritius

Air Mauritius wishes to reassure its passengers and the public in general that the company fully complies with the COVID-19 protocol in force in Mauritius and has implemented strict sanitary measures accordingly at all touch points.

Important Notice

Up to 14th July 2021, no commercial passenger flights will operate to Rodrigues, except for authorised flights.

General notes 

  • Please check-in at the Domestic Terminal of SSR International airport at least 3 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within the departure area using door 2.
  • Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

Travel requirements for passengers travelling to Rodrigues

  • All passengers travelling to Rodrigues must undergo a quarantine of 14 days in Mauritius in a state designated facility under the Ministry of Health and Wellness with PCR tests conducted on Day 0, 7 and 14.
  • Passengers who are tested negative on Day 14 will be authorised to travel to Rodrigues on the 15th day and will be transferred directly from the quarantine facility to the airport.
  • All passengers arriving in Rodrigues must undergo a quarantine period of 7 days in a designated establishment under the Rodrigues Regional Assembly with a PCR test conducted on Day 7.

Sanitary measures

  • It is mandatory for all passengers to wear a mask at all times. Please ensure that you carry a sufficient number of masks for the entire duration of your trip. Passengers not complying with sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding.
  • Body temperature checks will be carried-out for both departing and arriving passengers at SSR International Airport and at Plaine Corail Airport by the health authorities. Any passenger having temperature above 37.7 degrees Celcius and/or any symptoms of Covid 19, will be directed to the medical post, under the supervision of the airport doctor.
  • Passengers shall duly fill in the Health Declaration card before landing.
  • Passengers arriving in Rodrigues will be subjected to 14 days health surveillance by the Public Health authorities as from the date of arrival.
  • Physical distancing of at least 1m should be maintained by all staff and passengers within the terminal and in public areas.

Sanitary hygiene on board

  • You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Kindly dispose of used surgical masks in the lavatory bin or keep them in your own bag.
  • We encourage you to travel with a hand sanitiser in quantities of 100ml or less for use throughout your journey.

Baggage Allowance

To help limit contact between carry-on baggage items, your Cabin Baggage should include only the necessary essential items such as personal laptops, handbag, briefcase, and baby items. For cabin baggage, the total allowable number of pieces per person is one, with a weight not exceeding 5 kg.

Your entitlement for checked baggage is 15kg.

Due to weight limitations on ATR-72 aircraft, the additional baggage allowance of 8 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Gold card holders & 5 Kgs to Kestrelflyer Silver card holders does not apply on flights to / from Rodrigues until further notice.

Travel exigencies and required documents

  • Passengers entering or transiting through Kenya must have a printed medical certificate with negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test result. The test must have been taken at most 96 hours before arrival into Kenya. The certificate must be in English. 
    Passengers whose medical certificate has expired due to the transit time will be subject to a test for Covid-19 at their own cost upon arrival at a recognised facility.
  • Passengers must complete the Travelers Health Surveillance Form online at https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/ 
    Passengers must hold a QR code they received by e-mail showing they have completed the travellers Health Surveillance Form and present the e-mail at check-in.
  • Passengers arriving from specified countries are exempted from Quarantine. A list of quarantine exemptions can be found at https://www.kcaa.or.ke/quarantine-exempted-states
  • Passport and other travel documents accepted for entry are considered valid until the day before the expiration date.

    Please note that passengers who do not fulfil the above requirements will be denied boarding.

  • Travellers whose final destination is Madagascar will be required to fill in the enclosed letter of engagement (Lettre D'engagement Madagascar) prior arrival in Madagascar.

Arrival

  • All Passengers will be subjected to temperature control upon arrival in Madagascar.
  • The completed letter of engagement and negative PCR test results must be submitted to the Health Officials and Immigration Officers upon arrival.

Eligibility for travel

  • French nationals, as well as their spouse and children, residing in a country outside the European Union and the European Economic Area, do not require a compelling reason for travel.

  • European Union nationals and nationals from Andorra, United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Switzerland, and the Vatican, whose primary residence is in France or are in transit through France to reach their country of origin or of primary residence, travelling with their spouse and children. 
  • Third country nationals, who are holders of a French or European residence permit or valid long-stay visa, with primary residence in France, or in transit through France to their residence in the European Union or its assimilated countries. 
  • Third country nationals, in transit for less than 24 hours in an international zone.
  • Passengers of other nationalities wishing to travel for specific reasons should contact the French Embassy https://mu.ambafrance.org/
  • A copy of your passport, your residence permit, as well as your residential address must be provided at the time of booking.

Travel requirements

Please make sure you have all the required documents and visas before you travel. Additional documents will be required as follows:

  1. Travellers aged 11 years and above must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test carried out within 72 hours (or 3 days) before boarding. This negative result is mandatory and will be requested at check-in at SSR International airport and on arrival.
  2. Passengers are required to submit a Declaration on Honour to state that you do not have symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and that you have not been in contact with a confirmed case of Covid-19 during the 14 days before your flight. For minors, the sworn statements may be signed by their legal representative. This document must be presented at Check-in at SSR International airport and upon arrival in Reunion and can be downloaded at http://www.reunion.gouv.fr/IMG/pdf/20200721_declarationsurl_honneur-2.pdf

  4. Fill in the health form set up by the ARS for contact tracing. The form should be filled online at https://suivi.arslareunion-covid19.re/

The traveller then will receive a QR code through SMS or an email inviting them to download their receipt 48 hours before flight departure. The supporting document must be printed or downloaded to a mobile phone and must be presented to the check-in staff when departing from Mauritius.

How to fill in the contact tracing assistance form?

At SSR International airport/departure

  • You must arrive at SSR International Airport at least 4 hours before the departure of your flight, and proceed to gate 14 of the departure lounge in Hall B. Only departing passengers will be granted access in the departure area. Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers requiring special assistance may be accompanied inside the departure area.
  • The authorities in Reunion require that all passengers above 11 years old wear only surgical masks. Surgical masks should be worn from the time you reach the SSR International Airport to the time you leave the airport at destination. Please note that passengers who do not comply with health measures imposed by the authorities concerned will not be allowed on board.
  • Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours. Please ensure that you hold a sufficient number of masks for your trip, from the time you reach the airport to the time you leave the airport at destination.
  • Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket. Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg.
  • No single baggage weighing more than 32 Kgs will be accepted at check in.
  • Should you be a Kestrelflyer Gold or Silver cardholder, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20kgs on presentation of your valid membership card.

Arrival

  • Note that a 7-day self-isolation at home is mandatory.
  • It is the civic responsibility and moral obligation of all travellers to comply and abide to the self-isolation of 7 days at home or elsewhere upon their arrival.

Eligibility for travel

  • Since 01st October 2020, South African borders are open to international travel, with exceptions for travel from high risk countries. The list is available on the Home Affairs website: www.dha.gov.za .

Travel to and from Mauritius is permitted.

  • Travelers from high risk countries who intend to travel to South Africa require permission from the Minister of Home Affairs and must fall in the following categories: business travelers, holders of critical skills visas, investors and people on international mission in sports, arts, culture and science. These travelers must direct email requests to:Covid19BusinessTravel@dha.gov.za, supported by a copy of passport and/or temporary residence visa; proof of business activities to be undertaken in the Republic; proof of travel itinerary; and proof of address or accommodation in the Republic. However, South African citizens, South African Permanent Residents and long-term visa holders from high risk countries do not require the permission from the Minister of Home Affairs.

Travel requirements for passengers travelling to South Africa

  1. Travellers will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours from time of departure, from an accredited laboratory, and in line with the World Health Organisation requirements.  This negative result is mandatory and will be requested at check-in at SSR International airport and upon arrival in South Africa by the Health Authorities.  Children below the age of 5 years are exempted from COVID-19 PCR test.

  2. Passengers must submit a completed "Traveller Health Questionnaire" on https://sa-covid-19-travel.info/  at most 2 days before departure. They must present the Unique Number to Port Health upon arrival in South Africa.

  3. Travellers are encouraged to download the COVID Alert South Africa mobile app from the following website: https://sacoronavirus.co.za/covidalert/  so that they are able to monitor and minimise their risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

  4. All foreign travellers should possess a travel insurance which should cover COVID-19 testing and quarantine costs, which may be required by the South African authorities for passengers presenting COVID-19 symptoms on arrival.

  5. Travelers must hold a proof of accommodation address in South Africa, in case they are required to self-quarantine at the time of arrival.

Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.

  • Passengers will also be subject to temperature checks at the airport.

Arrival

  • Travelers will need to present the negative COVID-19 test results not older than 72 hours from time of departure, to Health Officials, upon arrival in South Africa.

  • The unique ID number obtained upon submission of online Traveler Health Questionnaire must be provided to Health Officials upon arrival.

    All travelers will be subjected to COVID-19 screening on arrival. 

Those who present COVID-19 symptoms which include elevated body temperatures and flu-like symptoms, will be required to take a COVID-19 test which will be at the traveler’s cost. Should the test results come back positive, the traveler will be subjected to mandatory quarantine, which will also be paid for by the traveler.

Eligibility for travel

Travellers who have been in or through a country on the red list in the last 10 days cannot enter UK. This does not apply to British and Irish Nationals, longer-term visa holders and permanent residents.

Essential information to enter England from overseas

Everyone entering England from overseas (including UK nationals and residents) must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days of departure to England.

Fill in your Passenger Locator Form up to 48 hours before arrival. You must declare all countries you have visited or transited through in the 10 days prior to your arrival on your Passenger Locator Form.

Before departure check the list of red, amber, and green countries, as the list can change regularly.

Red list passengers

  1. Book a managed quarantine package
  2. Complete a passenger locator form

You can only enter if you are a British or Irish National, or you have residence rights in the UK. You must enter through a designated port and quarantine in a government approved hotel for 10 days.

Amber list passengers

  1. Book tests for day 2 and 8
  2. Complete a passenger locator form
  3. Make plans to self-quarantine in private accommodation for 10 full days after arrival (or full duration of stay if less than 10 days)

Green list passengers

  1. Book a test for day 2
  2. Complete a passenger locator form

These measures apply to all persons (including UK nationals and residents) arriving in England from outside the common travel area comprising the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands. The British Overseas Territories are not in the common travel area. Public health requirements may vary depending upon in which nation of the UK you are staying.

Failure to comply with these measures is a criminal offence and you could be fined. There are a limited set of exemptions from these measures. Check the list of exemptions carefully. You may be fined if you fraudulently claim an exemption.

Baggage allowance

Transit and connecting Flights

If you are in transit and travelling onward, please ensure that your luggage is checked-in to your final destination as you will not be able to exit the transit area.
 

Eligibility for travel

Effective from 9 June, the movement of travellers between France and foreign countries will resume under terms and conditions that will vary according to the health status of these countries and the vaccination status of travellers.

Countries have been classified accordingly based on health indicators. The lists of countries may be updated as the epidemic situation evolves.

Travel requirements have been relaxed for persons who have been fully vaccinated with a European Medical Agency approved vaccination. Please consult the Government website for more information.

General notes

Please check in at SSR International airport at least 4 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within Hall B of the departure area using door 14.

Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

Travel documents

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel. 

Passengers must provide a sworn statement that they do not show any symptom of Covid-19 and that they have no knowledge of having been in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 case within 14 days before the flight. 

The documents are available for download from the website of the French Ministry for Interior.

Green countries

  • Vaccinated passengers can enter France without any restrictions.
  • Unvaccinated passengers will have to present a COVID‑19 negative PCR test or an antigen test at least 72 hours before departure.


Orange countries
(includes Mauritius)

  • Vaccinated passengers
  •  COVID‑19 PCR test at least 72 hours before departure or an antigen test 48 hours before departure.
  • Unvaccinated passengers
  • Compelling reason for travel to France
  • COVID‑19 PCR test at least 72 hours before departure, or an antigen test 48 hours before departure

Red countries

Exemptions:

Children below 11 years old are not required to take the COVID‑19 PCR test.

 

Vaccination

Only vaccines authorized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) will be accepted, i.e. Pfizer (Comirnaty), Moderna, AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen), as follows:

  • A vaccine dose of Janssen at least 4 weeks before arrival, or
  • The second vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna, or Pfizer-BioNTech at least two weeks before arrival, or
  • The first vaccine dose of AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Moderna, or Pfizer-BioNTech at least two weeks before arrival and a proof of previous infection with Covid-19. (only one dose is necessary)

Sanitary measures

It is mandatory for all passengers above 11 years old to wear only surgical masks from the time they reach SSR International airport to the time they leave the airport at destination which includes boarding, the entire flight and deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Typically, you should provide for one mask for every 4 hours.

Sanitary hygiene on board

You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Used masks should not be left in seat pockets, on the seats and anywhere else in the cabin. Same should be disposed of in lavatory waste bins only or be kept in your bag.

Travel requirements

Kindly check that you have complied with all mandatory visa and travel documents for your travel, and the travel requirements at your final destination.

The Government of India has updated requirements for international arrivals which take effect on 22 February 2021 at 23:59.

  • The Indian Government requires that all travelers submit a Self-Declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal https://www.newdelhiairport.in/airsuvidha/apho-registration  at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel. A printed copy must be presented to the Check-in Officer at SSR International Airport and to the airport health staff upon arrival.
  • Passengers are also required to upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report on the portal. This test should have been conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey. Each passenger shall also submit a declaration with respect to authenticity of the report and will be liable for criminal prosecution, if found otherwise.

    The negative PCR test report must be presented at Check-in. 

    Exemptions from the PCR test may be allowed only for those passengers traveling to India in the exigency of death in the family. Application for such exemption must be made on the online portal www.newdelhiairport.in at least 72 hours before boarding. The decision taken by the government as communicated on the online portal will be final. 

  • You will have to give an Undertaking to abide by the decision of the appropriate government authority to undergo quarantine / self-monitoring of your health for 14 days, or as warranted. The Undertaking Form must be presented on arrival in India. The Undertaking Form can be downloaded here.
  • You are required to download the application Aarogya Setu on your personal device. For more information kindly consult the following link https://aarogyasetu.gov.in/

  • Passengers travelling to India via Dubai are subjected to additional requirements.

At SSR International Airport/Departure

Please check in at SSR International airport at least 4 hours before your scheduled flight departure. Only passengers with a valid ticket will be allowed within Hall B of the departure area using door 14.

Unaccompanied minors (UM) and passengers with special needs can be accompanied inside the departure area.

It is mandatory for all passengers wear a surgical mask from the time they reach SSR International airport to the time they leave the airport at destination which includes boarding, during the entire flight and at deplaning. Please note that passengers not complying with these sanitary measures imposed by the relevant authorities will be denied boarding. Two surgical masks and one face shield will be handed over to you at check-in.

Depending on aircraft loads you may be allocated a middle seat in which case you will be required to wear a wrap-around gown before boarding the aircraft and during the entire flight as per the requirements of Indian Authorities. One wrap-around gown will be handed over to you and you are requested to dispose of same after you disembark.

Information on your baggage allowance is included on your ticket. Cabin baggage is limited to one piece weighing not more than 7 kg. Note that no single baggage weighing more than 32 Kg will be accepted at check in.

Should you be a Gold or Silver Kestrelflyer, you are eligible for one additional piece of 20 kg on presentation of your valid membership card.


Sanitary measures on board

You are requested to adhere to strict sanitary hygiene on board. Kindly dispose of used surgical masks in lavatory bins or keep them in your own bag.

Hand sanitizers are available on board upon request.


Arrival

All passengers will be subject to a medical screening upon arrival and any passenger found to be symptomatic shall be immediately isolated and taken to medical facility as per the health protocol in India.
